Everything about Ol Donyo was absolutely perfect during our second stop on our honeymoon. We found the lodge to be such an elevated experience that we never wanted to leave. The rooms/common spaces, the food (and incredibly accommodating chef Ben), the staff (especially our guide Issac and our waiter John), and the hide were some of the highlights. We loved the outdoor shower and will never forget taking a shower everyday with a view of Kilimanjaro. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back someday.

ol Donyo was by far our favorite accommodation in Kenya. Despite record rainfall and all kinds of logistical challenges, the staff made our experience unforgettable in the best possible way. Sandra and Ashley, thank you for taking wonderful care of us during our stay, including the warm welcome, some light medical support, an attempted Amboseli visit, and expert coordination to ensure we could depart on schedule (although we would have loved to stay longer). Edwin and John, you were two highlights from our trip. Edwin, thank you for the game drives (even in the pouring rain), teaching us about the flora and fauna, sharing sundowners with us, and helping us find One Ton! We will never forget that encounter. John, thank you for taking care of us each morning, afternoon, and evening while making us laugh and helping us feel at home. You both have incredible spirit and passion for what you do – and we were lucky to have you taking care of us. We hope to come back to ol Donyo one day and would love to see your smiling faces again. A heartfelt thanks to everyone at the lodge for making a bucket list adventure everything we could have asked for.

Incredible experience cannot underline enough how much of a must do this lodge is. Had Dan as a guide who was phenomenal. Stayed at several other lodges and worked with other guides but Dan takes the top spot. Knew all the best spots was such an interesting person to talk to great demeanor and all around nice guy. The whole team was excellent and the views breath taking. Want to go back asap!

Ol Donyo Lodge is the epitome of luxury safari. On our honeymoon this was our first stop (also our first time on Safari). We were met at the airstrip by our private Safari guide, Dan, who showed us around the area and stopped under a beautiful tree to give us a briefing of how our time on safari will go (he also provided us with a professional camera and Swarovski binoculars to use during our stay). We were in awe of the landscape of the Chyulu Hills Mountain Range. Just a few minutes in and we were already blown away. The property its self is spectacular, the pictures do not do this place justice! The lobby and entry area is stunning over looking the plains and seeing Mt Kilimanjaro (when it’s not cloudy) was spectacular. The view of the watering hole from our bedroom and personal deck was truly unbelievable to see elephants and giraffes so close. Food was incredible. Very personalized to your needs. The time in Ol Donyo was completely private (private meals, drives & picnic) and personalized to how we wanted our trip to go. We had a private breakfast in the bush and felt this was one of the most special moments of our trip. The service was incredible and all the stuff were wonderful. Going down to the hide was another highlight of our trip and so amazing this was at our lodge that we could utilize whenever we wanted to. Dan our safari guild was so amazing and we could really tell his love for the animals. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw as much as we could during our short time. There are bugs which we expected, but there were definitely more here than in the second lodge we stayed at. One recommendation would be to have bug spray or bug killer in the bedroom. I’ve never left a resort and felt that life was forever changed and this was how we felt leaving Ol Donyo.

I wish I could begin to say how magical Ol Donyo is, but there's really no words that can express it. From the moment you arrive, and are greeted by a line of people yelling JAMBO!! To the meals, to the HUGE rooms with private plunge pool, to the friends you'll make along the way. Our game drives were absolutely amazing. My guide James and I went on game drives every night I was there, and we saw so many things you'd never see during the day. We saw cheetah and lions!! Elephants, African wild cats (they look like house cats) chameleons, and let's not forget the stars that are like nothing you've ever seen in your life. Plus the thing that sets them apart, the Hyde, and the bunker at the watering hole, where you are 10 to 20 feet away from the most majestic wildlife on the planet. A VERY special shout out to our guide James, who every night took me out on game drives, and told me how he loved chameleons, and we started every drive with a chameleon finding adventure!! It was truly, truly incredible. I honestly felt like I was leaving a friend by the last day. All of the dedicated people who took care of us were so amazing. Joshua, our waiter, told us great stories about his home and family. He really made us feel like we were special!! Rita and Jackie!! Who's smiles and good moods were infectious!! The food was outstanding too. Their lunch menu was especially notable. Fresh salads, falafel, interested grain salads, grilled veggies, and so much more. We had dinner in a different spot every night, with the last night by our private plunge pool in our "yard". It was for the best too, cause I balled my eyes out knowing we were leaving this magical place in the morning. Ol Donyo ISN'T CHEAP, but if you have the opportunity, just go, and make friends for life.
