  When the Wild Becomes Home- the Elephant Gorge Experience! Our time at Elephant Gorge Camp in Amboseli was an experience that blended pure wilderness with unmatched luxury! Encountering elephants in their natural habitat felt like a rare privilege in itself—watching the legendary 53-year-old tusker Craig, along with entire families of elephants from tiny calves to massive tuskers, was simply unforgettable. One morning, we even woke to soft noises outside our cottage and discovered zebras and elephants quietly drinking from the plunge pool just a few feet away. Moments like these felt surreal! Amboseli offered us an abundance of wildlife—hundreds of zebras, wildebeests, Thomson’s gazelles, Grant’s gazelles, and even the rare kudu species. Giraffes with their long, graceful eyelashes, playful warthogs (our very own 'Pumbas'), and countless bird species—the superb starlings, lapwings, bateleur eagles, and flocks of flamingos with their delicate pink hue gliding across the lake—completed the picture. The cottages themselves were the epitome of luxury—spacious, beautifully designed, and equipped with every possible comfort. From hot showers to thoughtful amenities, there wasn’t a single facility we found lacking. It was the perfect balance of comfort in the heart of the wild. The hospitality of the staff made the experience all the more memorable. Dennis catered to our every need with warmth and efficiency, while the chef spoiled us with delicious meals, offering a variety of dishes tailored exactly to our preferences. Our guide, Junior, deserves a special thanks—his jovial nature and enthusiasm made every game drive not just informative but great fun. And Jade, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure everything was seamless throughout our stay. On our last evening, we were treated to a spectacular sundowner at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, where Bosco shared with us the rich history and significance of Elephant Gorge. Sipping our drinks against that backdrop, and ending with the breathtaking sight of a Blood Moon (a lunar eclipse), was truly the perfect finale to our stay.   This is a spectacular spot! The rooms are gorgeous, the food is great, the staff are amazing and the views are breathtaking! We opened our eyes to breathtaking view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Had dinner while watching elephants cooling off in the watering hole.

  The location is a bit of a drive from the park, about 45 minutes. The staff is incredibly friendly and the room is very beautiful! From our room, we could see giraffes and Mount Kilimanjaro. The only downside for our group was the night safari. This is the only hotel we found that offers a night safari, and we were hoping to see at least a few animals. However, we barely saw anything except for a few giraffes. The manager, Jade, informed us that 90% of the time, people see more than five kinds of animals, but suggested that we were “just unlucky.” I don’t think this is the best way to communicate with customers and set realistic expectations. Despite this, the overall experience was still great, and I would highly recommend this place. Just be aware that the night safari might not be worth the money and time.

  Elephant Gorge Camp offers luxurious and very private rooms, perfect for a peaceful stay in Amboseli. The service is attentive and friendly, and while the food is decent, it’s not the highlight. For safety reasons, guests cannot walk around the camp on their own, so movement is always with staff escort.

  An absolutely spectacular hotel! The rooms are beautiful, modern, and best of all, they offer breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro. Waking up to see that mountain from your bed is truly priceless. The service is extraordinarily kind and helpful. The staff always has a smile and is willing to assist with anything you need. They also arranged a sunset excursion, which was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended! If you're looking for luxury, incredible views, and impeccable service, this is the place to be.
