Mount Kenya is a 5,199 metre volcanic mountain in the central highlands, with a national park and forest reserve around its upper slopes. This area covers the park, the Naro Moru and Chogoria routes, the nearby Aberdare range and the foothill towns of Nyeri and Embu. Visitors come for multi-day climbs and treks, forest lodges and mountain huts, and farm and river stays on the lower slopes.
