  Lovely place, the service is very personalised and you get a great flexible experience compared to the top other 3 hotels where it is generic and overpriced for nothing. I loved the difference in details compared to accommodation across the rest of the coast, you can see the Swahili influence in every detail of the hotel and room❤️ Less 1 star because the pool floor was slimmy Shout out to Joseph at Red Pepper, I had such an amazing local immersion experience. Shout out to Kasela for the dedicated personalised, waiting services. Shout out to Aisha, my room was always fresh and clean. It was such a heart warming experience, I was a solo traveller but felt I had a community, the price may seem steep but it was worth every penny and looking forward to back again.

  Red pepper is a beautiful place. The staff are kind and welcoming to all the needs. Although for me the bathroom was not very clean red pepper can do better. The food also ok

  5 star experience, lots of mosquitoes though, good chef, great food, they give saddle wood oil soaps for free to their guests....But the pool is why am not giving a 5 star rating....

  We couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up two weeks of travelling around Kenya than the four nights we spent at the Red Pepper House over the New Year's holiday. Our family of four (kids ages 12 and 15) had stayed in top lodging in two other parts of the country, but none made us feel more at home and relaxed than did the staff here. It started with the warm welcome Joseph the manager gave us when we landed at the airport. After the short boat ride from the airport directly to the Red Pepper House, Joseph introduced us to Kasena and Faith, who greeted us with fresh juice and refreshing towels. We were then shown our nyumbas, each a combination of bedroom, bathroom, living area, veranda, and private enclosed beach space. Throughout our stay, these were immaculately maintained every day. Highlights of our stay included Joseph showing us around Lamu Town and Shela. He was a wonderfully confident tour guide, leading us through the town's labyrinth, telling us about the island's history and culture, while greeting acquaintances along the way. At the same time, he gave us time to linger when something intrigued us, as Lamu Market and Lamu Fort did. Kasena provided other highlights, leading us out for two sun-downers -- one sailing on the dhow, the other watching the sun go down while swimming at the pristine beach on Manda Island. Each day started with a filling breakfast of fresh fruit, omelettes made to order and Kenyan baked specialties. Each evening closed with a gourmet dinner, typically featuring seafood freshly caught in the waters off Lamu. Aside from these joys, we loved simply chilling out in the breezy sitting areas of the house, dipping in the pool, splashing in the warm seawater, and especially strolling along the beach, marveling at the variety of crabs that scurry about at low tide. If anything distracted us from the fun we were having, it was the mosquitoes. These, of course, are part of life in a place like Lamu, and the Red Pepper House staff went to great lengths to help minimise their impact. Beyond the bed netting and spray repellent, we found that turning up the ceiling fan reduced their influence to almost a non-factor. In sum, we found Lamu mesmerising and have been raving about it to family and friends since returning home. This extremely positive experience is thanks mainly to the friendly and professional staff at the Red Pepper House.
