  Jambo House was by far the best accommodation I had in Kenya during the entire month I spent traveling around the country. From the moment I arrived, it felt like a home away from home. Arnold, the owner, is an incredible person who truly goes above and beyond for his guests. His knowledge of the island and his network of local contacts made a huge difference in my experience — he was always happy to help, offer advice, and share the best recommendations. His treatment of both his staff and his guests is outstanding; you can really feel the respect and care he has for everyone. The rooms are cleaned and organized every single day, and the common areas are absolutely amazing, with beautiful city views and sunbeds perfect for relaxing. It’s a wonderful space to unwind after a day of exploring. Breakfast was another highlight: delicious and varied, with more than five different options to choose from. Every morning Arnold personally prepared a different fresh juice, which was such a thoughtful and special touch. Jambo House is not just a place to stay — it’s an experience. I would love to come back someday and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

  I stayed here for a couple nights and absolutely loved it. The place has a cozy feel to it and the rooftop is relaxing. Arnold, the owner, gave me so much information about the town and recommendations on places to visit, resturants, and local events.

  Jambo house is absolutely fantastic! Arnold, the owner, is a hospitality genius, he has thought absolutely everything through, there is so much attention to detail. Really great recommendations and advice given about the island, really appreciated these and it made the experience in lamu old town so memorable. There’s great posters on the wall with information, filtered water upon request, power banks to charge and give light in case of power outage, beach towels upon request & more. The terrace is a lovely place to chill, I really enjoyed eating breakfast there every morning, which may I add was absolutely delicious ( thank you Fred for feeding us so well). We stayed in the downstairs, more affordable room and were upgraded kindly to the one with the attached bathroom. it was perfect for us as we came back late almost every night and were essentially just sleeping in the room. . If you plan on spending more time in the room I would recommend staying on the 1st floor as the bottom room doesn’t have much natrual light and strong wifi connection. Again this wasn’t an issue at all for us but may be useful for others to know. I wouldn’t even call this ‘budget’ accommodation as I see others have, I think jambo house provides all the amenities of any higher end guest house, just for a very affordable price. The bonus though, is the experience that you would get here would be hard to match. Arnold is so kind and has so many interesting and insightful things to share about lamu and goes over and above to make sure you are comfortable & happy.

  If you want a local experience this is the place. Arnold toke time patiently to explain everything to us before we get out of the accommodation. You can have the tours, the tips, everything explain from him. Fred that work in the accommodation make the best pancakes and clean the rooms super super! Just super nice and friendly people. Room is simple but have everything that you need if you are into a simple way to travel. Truly recommend and Hope a day be back! Lamu is a gem!

  Hi, Before booking Arnold's place, like everyone else I read the reviews on Airbnb, and the reviews were spectacular, one of the best reviews I've seen for a property on Airbnb. Even with this, my stay at Arnold's exceeded my expectations, it was a truly memorable and special stay. Right from the communication, Arnold patiently clarified all my doubts before my booking. He went out of his way to pick me up from the jetty and showed me the directions to reach the BnB easily. One of the many highlights was the introduction he gave to Lamu and JamboHouse along with a map of the places to visit and things to do in Lamu. Arnold has his own set of tour guide, dhow captains, masseuses, etc. who I could blindly trust for quality and price. The next highlight, the breakfast, Arnold makes a fresh, healthy, tasty breakfast (nothing fancy, but does the job! Banana pancakes, must try!) every morning, perfect start to the days, on a peaceful terrace with sunlight and nature and the true essence of Lamu town. As described, the place is a budget hotel, nothing fancy, the rooms are clean, with all the basics things you need, same with the washroom and the other spaces. The place is filled with character and you can feel the effort and love that Arnold puts into the place. Stay at Lamu wouldn't have been the same without meeting Arnold and staying at JamboHouse, can't wait to be back. Asante sana Arnold and the team, god bless!
