Rooms are ok, at least the one we have been to, clean, cleaning was done everyday, we have heard that there are better ones. We are though not very room oriented, rather what you can get outside of it. Hotel is next to the beautiful Diani beach, one the nicest I have been to. Food is good, a lot of variety, something is happening all day, every day. Staff is excellent and friendly. Interior of the hotel is great, a pool, palm trees, open air restaurants, nice architecture, monkeys (not dangerous). Beach is full of beach boys selling services for tourists that do not give up easily, need to get used to it. Outside the hotel you need to take a tuk tuk, nothing in the walking distance. Shops (like Carrefour) are reachable for 150-200 KES by tuk tuk. Tsavo is 2.5-3h drive by a jeep. Overall great experience for reasonable price/value ratio. Highly recommended! Been here with two kids 4&7 yo. We will come back!

Date of events: 18/01/2026. I believe this is relevant, I’m a black Kenyan. Onwards: This is the most disorganized hospitality operation I’ve ever seen. I was a visitor to a guest for his birthday and got the worst experience I’ve ever had as an avid traveler of countless years at the Kenyan coast. An extremely rude low-EQ night-time security guard without an ounce understanding of what hospitality is about started shouting that I overstayed my visit as we went out the premises at around 12 p.m. with their guest in my car. No hello, no calm composure, just ill-mannered shouting as if I was some intruder. The entire time during my visit I was at their lounge and not a single member of personnel mentioned or came up to me regarding the time constraint and I was totally unaware. Driving the guest back to the hotel at around 2am the same guard refused entry to the vehicle and forced the guest to walk miles all the way down the hotel. Just stone-cold inhospitable behavior because his feeble feelings had gotten hurt earlier when I told him to stop shouting at me. During entry earlier as well I experienced an highly disorganized reception with the charade led by some guy Caleb who poorly communicated any rules regarding guests and indicated rudely that my guest and I do our entire meetup at the reception, this is after not mentioning it at all when I arrived where he initially asked that I first call the guest all the way up to reception to come get me, the boom, you have to stay here because this is some all-inclusive hotel and we don’t want you eating our food; like you’re some homeless pauper whose come here for free food. They made a clown show of what would have been an otherwise great evening with total inexperience and terrible execution of the meaning of the word HOSPITALITY.

Visited in the second week of Dec 2025. The reception can do better with welcoming guests , this being the first impression of the hotel. The family room we got was a bit old, our A.C wasn’t working (which we didn’t mind cos we had come to steam in the coastal heat) ; the fan was very adequate for us. We also found it very awkward that they charge per night separately to use the safe locker in the room . The cleaning ladies do a great job for the rooms they have ; the common area toilets were always spotless . The food was very fresh and superb with quite a variety . Pork separation is not clear-cut hence risk of mixing foods for the Muslims ; one has to ask over and over as some regular meals have pork ingredients. The staff are otherwise friendly, great location , the all-inclusive works very well for families with kids (drinks and water were in plenty round the clock). Water games were fun . Overall we enjoyed ourselves and relaxed . Affordable too for an all-inclusive hotel. There is Need to revamp the older family rooms

We spent 5 days at Papillon. We are not all inclusive people, but this is the option the hotel has, so we went for it. Rooms are big (no TV is you are a fan), all have a small terrace and air conditioning. They could definitely do an improvement. Doors lock old-school, bathroom saw better days, for example our toilet only flushed once, then you have to wait, no ideal for family. The pool are is nice, yes you always need to be careful for the monkeys, they still food and non-alcoholic drinks and enter the rooms (pay big attention and close all windows and doors, they are there in no time if not) The beach, accessible and nice, but as soon as you step out of the resort, you are literally aggressed by vendors that walk with you and hardly take no for an answer. Every time, everyday, always, you cannot relax because of them. Food is plenty and they have a decent selection, but no sea food (except some fish), not even for dinner. Drink are generally decent, decent quality. Location is pretty far from Diani centre, you have tuk-tuk in from or can you uber/ bolt aprox 500-600KES per ride. They suggest to walk ok the beach only until dark or around 7PM the latest as it can be dangerous. Overall, a decent stay

One night stopover. This is a tour company hotel popular with europeans on package holiday. All inclusive setup. Its nice, and for the money excellent value but not luxury. The location is stunning right on Diani beach. Service was average and could had been better. We arrived early and were allocated wrong room, had to wait till well past the check in time to have ours available and couldnt get anything to eat whilst waiting. After a while offered a coffee and a stale croissant! A hotel of this size should do better and certainly be more customer orientated. Overall could step up a notch and be a great place.
