  This is the best bed & breakfast. It strikes the completely right balance of feeling like you’re staying in someone’s luxurious country home and you’re staying in a hotel. The staff is so kind and attentive. The food was excellent, especially the English breakfast. There are cozy fireplaces everywhere and a well maintained pool and gardens. The dogs are both lovely and sweet. Bed was incredibly comfortable. This was such a nice retreat for our last day in Kenya, especially after being on the road all week for safaris all over the country. Couldn’t have asked for better!

  WHAT A RELAXED AND GRAND WAY to begin our bucket list trip to East Africa From the outset, we were torn between spending the first 4 nites of our 3 week safari adventures in either Karen Gables or one of the more high profile, tonier properties in the Karen District. For the 3 of us, we KNOW we made the right decision as soon as we entered the property compound and the greetings we received upon entering the low key and comfortable Cape Dutch guest house. The guest house, grounds, staff, amenities, food and beverage were ALL superb. We found that any request was delivered upon with smiles and attentiveness. Of course, having the owner (Chris) on site and readily available for counsel on places to go and local artisans was an unexpected treat. Chris stopped by to chat with us daily. Food and beverage service was remarkable, led by Patrick (the chef), Joanne (the mixologist) and Mambo (our butler), as well as William (our walking guide) made our segue to "Africa time" a real treat. For Jane and me, leaving our Springer, Carter, for an extended length of time leaves us with dog withdrawals. Lucky for us Uki/Yuki and Max, the house dogs, we're at our disposal and loved the attention... so, Asante sana! We had hoped to return to Karen Gables for our last 2 nites, but there was no room at the inn. Regretfully, we stayed at a(nother) high-end property in Karen ... after departure from there, we KNOW our preference is Karen Gables on all fronts.

  What a charming and beautifully decorated place. You could spend a day just going room to room and looking at everything. Beautiful grounds with a nice pool, and phenomenal food. Very much appreciated the a/c rooms (not all have them). The were extremely kind to organize transportation for us, and even a movie night. Really not necessary to spend the money that you do at some of the most expensive hotels in Karen Gables, when you get this incredible care and service with so much charm.

  This place is incredibly beautiful and serene. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and everything is impeccably clean. The food is excellent, offering a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The garden is also stunning, featuring a pool and a charming waterfall where you can sit, relax, and fully immerse yourself in nature.

  It is a delightful home turned hotel with very good food & bar. The intimate dining areas in and around the house are particularly fun. We had great service and enjoyed the interesting decor and beautiful grounds. It is in a convenient location to nearby Nairobi attractions that we toured the day before starting our safari. It is a good launching place to recharge after a long journey to Kenya.
