  I visited shela in Lamu me and my friend were looking for a budget accommodation considering it was during the festive season in December. The accommodation in this place is quite decent for people visiting lamu island especially if you plan to be out everyday and all you need is a place to sleep. The rooms are quite basic as well but okay. The bathroom is quite big and there is a hot shower at least. The rooms are only a fan and hence not ideal selection if you are looking for accommodation with AC. The pool is very good and clean and large and it's kids friendly. To get to the hotel you will need to be picked since the only means of transport in shela is donkey or walk from the jetty. So I'd recommend walking. The breakfast was okay At least they will make you want you need The staff are very friendly and very welcoming .it's very short distance to the ocean . If you are looking for a good accommodation in shela and you are travelling on budget with friends I would strongly recommend this place . However as it is inost places in Lamu , please manage your expectations

  Don't go to this hotel unless you want to be bitten everywhere by red/fire ants. The hotel is infested with them and they do nothing about it. The red ants are all over the bed, towels and bedsheets. And worse, they don't help you even when you complain. The owner is a loud mouth arrogant man who refused to switch a room. Our entire visit here was extremely bad, and we didn't even get compensated. What a waste of money, time, peace and health

  Be cautious while staying at here as there are no cctv cameras to assure you of safety. I lost my phone from room 5A as I had stepped out to have breakfast as I had left it behind to charge. I didn't receive any compensation from the incident.

  This place is great. Hamid is of Great Service. There is value for money. Been there twice, 2021 and 2023. Hotel is located just behind Peponi Hotel, Shela Lamu. They also own Shela White House another beautiful and affordable townhouse. Worthwhile. 100%

  Calm quaint hotel close to the beach and restaurants. I enjoyed eating fresh served breakfast on their balconies and stargazing the milky way at night on their rooftops. Swimming pool was perfect as well after a day running around Lamu town. Shout out to one of the staff- Benson for his awesome service. Will definitely recommend this joint for the location, facilities and prices. The only thing i would have loved is if the hotel had a boat shuttle service to and from Lamu town. It can be quite difficult to get around since the boats dont necessarily run all the time from Shela.
