  Nice place..to be...with ambience...a notch higher. Good conference facilities. Very clean pool...though felt the price was abit high during Xmas period. Nicely done food

  I traveled to Kenya in December 2025 to attend my friend’s wedding at Ciala Resort, Kisumu. I was a bridesmaid, and we had spent over a year planning and looking forward to this special occasion. While the wedding itself went well and the venue is visually appealing, what followed completely overshadowed the experience. One of the guests in our group had money stolen from the hotel safe, the very place guests are told is secure, while she was at Dinner. When this was reported to management at Ciala Resort, the response was shocking. The hotel denied responsibility outright, insisted that “such things do not happen here,” and suggested the guest must have spent the money and forgotten, effectively accusing her of lying. The guest was visiting Kenya for the first time, making the experience even more distressing. Rather than investigate or show empathy, the hotel refused to probe the matter further, offered no accountability, and provided absolutely no customer service or support. The theft itself is serious. What is even more alarming is the lack of ownership, professionalism, and concern for guest safety. A hotel safe is meaningless if management is unwilling to act when a breach occurs. I am sharing this review to warn future guests to exercise extreme caution when booking at Ciala Resort, Kisumu, especially if you plan to use their in-room safes or are visiting from abroad. I also hope this public review pressures the hotel to do the right thing—acknowledge the incident, conduct a proper investigation, and refund the affected guest. Until that happens, I cannot recommend this hotel.

  We attended our friends wedding at Ciala Resorts on December 13th and stayed five nights. We were 12 guests in total including the bride and groom and their family and other friends. When me and my husband were packing up to leave on Sunday night, we noticed that we couldn’t get into the safe as the code didn’t work anymore. After both me and my husband tried to open it without success, we called the reception. The night manager came and opened the safe with a master key. We took our things out and realised that there was $500 missing! After contacting the hotel management, they showed very little interest in helping us. They told us that we must have forgotten the code, which is not the case. We left to go home to Sweden but my friend, the bride tried to help us and has gone back on several occasions to talk about it. The hotel management says that they are still investigating, they won’t let us se the CCTV recordings and acts like they think we are lying. I have never been treated like this at any other hotel/resort I’ve been to. Don’t go there! Someone there is using a master key to get in to the safes and puts in a random code to lock it so you don’t notice, and you risk losing your valuables and or money and they won’t help you solve it!

  ⚠️ Not Recommended – Warning to Brides I checked in as a happy bride but left very disappointed. Despite paying early, Ciala Resort attempted to resell our confirmed wedding venue. I also booked rooms for 12 guests, and $500 went missing from a room safe. Management was informed but did not handle the matter seriously. Due to poor professionalism and serious security concerns, I strongly advise couples not to book this venue or their rooms.

  I held my Introduction and graduation party at the resort,I was deeply honored by how my guests were treated(I have held 3 events here and they amaze me each time.They provided a wheel chair for my grandmother). Food was served in abundance and was really amazing. All my guests were well served and respectfully treated. All staff were friendly from the reception to the waiters. Okuta,the events manager upgraded our experience.Made our big day memorable. My highlight was when they brought the cake and danced with us.The Mcee made my party lit. Thanks to all the amazing waiters and waitresses who made my party a success. Will definitely be back!!!!
