  Nice enough people but lousy hotel. The Matfam has horribly outdated rooms that were ok back in the 1950s but now resemble an aging jigsaw puzzle that is also horribly overpriced. The manager was extremely pleasant but that doesn’t make up for a lousy hotel. We paid 30$ with breakfast but this hotel would have been $10-15 in West Africa. Don’t stay here unless you have no option. As a side note, one room did not have mosquito nets and the response from the reception was we do not have malaria here in Nakuru (disregarding the multitude of other mosquito borne illnesses). Impossible to prove a connection but my student had malaria a few days after that flippant comment.

  The swimming experience was nice and the area is quite spacious. However, the service was very disappointing. We ordered fries and were informed that it would take about 25 minutes. After waiting for over an hour, we followed up on our order and were then told that the frying machine had broken down. Shortly after that, I saw a waiter come out with about five or six plates of fries for other guests. This felt unfair and poorly handled, especially given the lack of communication. Overall, the service experience did not match the quality of the facilities.

  That was my first and last time to go there. Service was subpar, with the waitress snearing at a certain point when being called. Waitress intentionally seemed deceptive on pricing and seemed to intentionally hold our order as we waited for an abnormally long time to get our food. She even waited on others and stayed outside for a long time. We finally got our order a few minutes afterwards when we had to ask for our food. Though the menu states that fish plus any accompaniments is 1500, we were charged for two chips separately and one plain fish. The waitress said that only ugali is counted as any accompaniments. The waitress never took accountability for delaying our order but only proceeded to blame the kitchen, yet I saw her taking her sweet time walking from what seemed like the gift shop talking to someone.

  One waiter is so o rude in the kid section. When asked a question he said, he "do not interrogate me"

  Best place to bring team, family or loved ones. Good foods and recreation areas with swimming pool and enough parking plus good place to hold team bonding amd conference
