  I’ll round up and give this hotel a 5 star AT THIS PRICE POINT. The room is fine, average plus (4 star for cleanliness but the bathroom is outdated, which doesn’t matter as long as it is in order and clean). It has good working Internet, which a lot of places don’t do well for similar prices. I think the rate is $79/night as the apartment with bedroom, kitchen, living room, and dining space. It was cheaper for me last minute to book the apartment over the studio bedroom. Note: the desk told me to turn on the water heater 40 minutes before taking shower, odd for an American but normal for Kenya. Everything is 4 star quality but for the price, I gave it a 5 star.

  Strategically located. Has a good restaurant. Rooms are old fashioned but just enough for a business trip.

  A simple hotel near CBD. Bed is clean. Other facilities are ordinary. Windows cannot be closed.

  They tried to SCAM us for extra money. I called the hotel reception before making a booking as I wasn’t sure they would agree to group check-in for an afternoon shower only. They agreed on the phone. I then made a booking via booking.com. Then I messaged then on the platform to make sure it’s alright and with written evidence. They replied and did not further say anything. When we arrived, they said the hotel policy doesn’t allowed and need two more extra rooms. They started repeating the hotel policy claimed the staff made a mistake. (And they expected the customer to bear the cost??) At this point, it really feels like they are just trying to get more money, when they pre-agreed to everything yesterday. Eventually we were so tired and we’re fine to pay extra room and they insisted they want money for two extra rooms DO NOT RECOMMEND for the scammy attitude.

  I'm from North America. Stayed at the Chester last month before setting out on safari. Fantastic value. Terrific place. Very clean, great service at the front desk, elevators were fast, location is terrific. Fridge worked well. No air conditioning (but only high-end tourist hotels have that, I think) or ceiling fan but there was a lovely breeze to cool the room at night. When the safari guide found out where I'd stayed he described the CBD as sketchy. I didn't go out after dark but in the daytime and early evening it was a great area to walk, to see how regular people in Nairobi live, and I felt completely safe.
