Milimani Backpackers
Ranked in Best Budget Hotels in Nairobi
About
Simply decorated quarters in an unassuming hostel featuring complimentary Wi-Fi & a lounge.
Tucked inside a gated community in Karen, this is one of Nairobi's safer budget stays, with a garden setting that feels miles from the city center. Chef Steven's meals punch well above the hostel price point, and the staff will go out of their way to help — they'll even book your Mombasa train ticket if you don't have M-Pesa. Ensuite rooms with hot water are available if you want to skip the dorm.

The no shared is spam, the lady shares offensive sexual message when texted to ask for room availability. This is sad that people are promoting such unethical practices in the name of rental services.

Great budget accommodation. Meals presented by Chef Steven were exemplary! (Kudos!). Been to Kenya a couple of times but first time staying here after opting to read the reviews. They are located in a gated community in Karen. The hostel itself has a security guard within the premises at night, which made me feel very safe. Staff are friendly and helped answer my 101 questions as well as book a train to Mombasa for me which I couldn't do without having to go to the station itself or book online in which you need to pay with M-pesa...so if you don't have a local simcard, you should consider getting one. Peaceful ambience, with the occasional neighborhood dogs. Otherwise, the ensuite room I booked was well maintained and clean with a hotwater shower and decent wifi bars. WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN :)

Stayed at Milimani for my quick stop in Kenya, and was thoroughly impressed with the service. They were very quick in responding to my questions I emailed before arriving in Nairobi. Safe area, good garden and friendly staff!

Liaised with milimani backpackers a few times before coming to stay. They were clear in their communication and quick to respond. They picked us (4) up from the airport as planned with a sign saying my name. When we arrived, Maureen was very pleasant and helpful. The kitchen staff made us some food after hours which was delicious! The breakfast was nice in the morning too, I wanted to eat mine later and they were happy to provide foil for me to take away the food. The only downside to staying there was the howling/barking dogs. It was constant. Even with ear plugs in.

Nice place for a short stay in Nairobi. Relatively cheap to the other options in town. Double room for couples is very small but nicely located in the garden. At night you might hear the local dogs give a concert. Personnel is very friendly and breakfast is good. Also very safe and in a nice neighbourhood!
