Very Disappointing Stay – Not Recommended Stayed at Sun N Sand Kikambala during high season and was shocked by how empty and neglected the hotel felt. While the beachfront location is lovely and the rooms were clean and spacious, that’s where the positives end. No in-room amenities (no kettle, water, tea, or coffee), Wi-Fi was non-existent, food was extremely basic with the same menu daily, and soft drink options were very limited. The swimming pool was large but poorly maintained, there was no entertainment, no poolside service, and staff appeared demotivated. The beach was dirty and unkempt. The hotel is also non-alcoholic, something guests should be informed about in advance. The gift shop looked more like a local kiosk—no souvenirs, just basic clothing. Even simple extras like ice cream had only two flavours. Overall, nothing memorable or enjoyable about this stay. Easily the most boring hotel I’ve stayed at, and not one I would recommend.

I think the new management is trying hard to run this place to the ground.. Pros: Beautiful rooms Cons: Smelly lift / stairwells; Dirty and murky pools; slow service (hope your AC doesn’t break as it’ll take hours for help to arrive); No alcohol sold on the premises - which I would have loved to have been told in advance of my booking but oh well Place generally has a lot of potential, but for goodness sake clean it up & sell people alcohol

We had a very disappointing experience. The receptionist was rude when we asked for clarification after being told to sit and wait without any explanation. The rooms did not meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness, including unclean drinking glasses. The food was poor, with flies present. Although we had booked a six nights stay, we only stayed one night because it was dark and unsafe to leave, and we departed the following morning. The bathroom conditions were 😩😩. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing. The building itself is beautiful and has great potential, the service, cleanliness, and overall hospitality were far below expectations. I would not recommend this place.

Well, as I write this review. I'm in a 🔥 hot room with my kids. Power outage with unreliable backup that cannot serve the AC.... always offered room temp water which is 38° at the moment. Calling reception is a waste of time...they will say they are calling the manager... food is terrible. Below standards and not worth your money. Dirty mirky pools, you cannot see the bottom. Staff are friendly and that's about it... the food is atrocious ( had i said this?) Booked half board so as to enjoy ala'carte but yhooo!.... I'll attach a pi ture of catch of the day and chips that my son was served which costs 1300ksh! A holiday can end up feeling like a concentration camp tbh! Very poor management.

A charming beachfront resort along Kenya’s north coast — spacious, green, and well-ventilated, with great dining options, friendly service, and excellent facilities for families, relaxation, or team building. The beachfront, spa, and water sports make it a great place to unwind. Though it’s an older hotel, it still carries elegance and comfort, and the new owners are clearly working to enhance it further. Some rooms could use updating — beds, wardrobes, and bathrooms in particular — and housekeeping would benefit from closer supervision. The access road from Mombasa is under reconstruction, so travel can be slow, but once you arrive, the seaside charm makes it worth the trip.
