  This was a major disappointment. After living in Malindi for more than a year, we do unfortunately consider this as one of the "least value for money" we have been to, among the beach restaurants. And we have been to most of them. What could have been a gem, was instead more like marram or gravel. The first surprise was big plastic sheets to cover for the wind, that made the place look as a lower end birthday party event place. The next was a sofa that broke down when my wife sat down. She's not exactly fat, weighing 55kg. So we changed table, without even an comment or apology from the staff. A staff that appeared to be friendly, but unbelievably unprofessional. Our impression was that they have recruited beachboys during daytime. The menu wasn't bad, but unfortunately they didn't have a lot of the dishes it showed. The same applied to drinks, where even listed water was "sold out". We ended up with soda and a "fresh" juice that appeared to have been made long time ago. The soda they also forgot until reminded. When our grilled Tafi fish and Octopus arrived, it was without the rice the waiter told was beside, and instead a few pieces of very soggy fries. The Tafi wasn't spiced with anything, not even salt and pepper, and neither were such on the table. The Octopus was also replaced with Calamari. 1 and 2 half's of the smallest lime you can imagine was the only thing following the dishes. The "Octopus" was unbelievably rubbery, but at least seasoned nicely. Still definitely one of the most miserable I've eaten. And during more than 40 years with food as both passion and profession, I have eaten some. Price wise it says upper level, while preparation and service is definitely in the lower end. The dishes was so small, that we left still hungry and went home to cook dinner. It was also high tide and a lot of seaweed and garbage washed up. Especially large amounts of plastic bottles. When the sun went down a man came to clean up. He simply pushed everything back to the ocean. Empty bottles included. Still we have to mention the positive side, and that was one of the waiters that appeared to know and care about his job. Very charming and smiling. Credit to "Chai" for lifting the total experience from disaster to just very bad. The site is also beautiful, but unfortunately the management seems to be unable to make the best out of it. Or just careless. In our opinion it's a waste of time and money to visit again. Maybe with the exception of for something to drink a sunny day if we already are in the neighbourhood. Not worth the half hour drive from Malindi or Watamu. There's plenty of ok places and several good ones, with a lot more value for money. As better food, enough on the plates, better maintained, professional and attentive service, lower prices, easier access and same or better view.

  Great food , no privacy on the beach. The beach boys will milk the remains of you. You can't walk along the beach without one or 3 asking you for money. Consistent power inturuption . Otherwise good customer service.

  This place is a little gem! Only 1 (big) room with ensuite bathroom (with hot water!), clean, well equipped and sooooo quiet at night that you hear the waves... just 20 metres from the sea. The bed is really comfortable and has a mosquito net. The breakfast is very good, Vanessa will adapt to your preferences. She also runs the Luwa Beach restaurant which is adjacent to the room, excellent cuisine, we really enjoyed! Watamu beach is a really nice place to chill during the day, you can do kite surf (training center at Luwa Beach restaurant) and many other organised activities (boat tours etc.) Thanks again Vanessa for the good time we spent there :-)

  Very special place specially if you want privacy, unique guest room with panoramic Indian Ocean view & a nice terrace. Fresh seafood and salads, very recommended
