Pros: • Polite and friendly hotel staff (excluding management) • Unique and scenic hotel location Cons: • The air conditioners in the rooms are ancient and barely work • A sewage smell comes from the bathroom taps and showers • Management is lax and completely unreceptive to feedback • Limited meal options (Scroll down for TL;DR) Full story I booked a 2-night, 3-day stay at AHG Lion Beach with my family. This was meant to be a special weekend—something relaxing and beachside. We were assigned an ocean-facing room, and the moment we walked in, it was obvious the room was extremely hot and the AC wasn’t cooling at all. Since the room faced the setting sun, I assumed it would improve after sunset and went ahead with our planned activities. We returned after dark, and the room was still unbearably hot. At that point, I contacted reception. A technician was sent to confirm the issue, and he immediately suggested we change rooms. Despite that, no action was taken until I went back again and requested a room change myself. Because no other sea-facing rooms were available, my family was split up and moved into two indoor-facing rooms. You’d think management would have the common sense to clean the rooms, turn on the AC, and confirm everything worked before sending guests over—especially after the inconvenience they caused. But no. Nothing was done until I spoke with reception again after dinner—for the third time. This wasted several precious hours of our evening that I would have rather spent with my family. We finally moved into the two new rooms, and the same problems continued. In one room, the AC was barely working and the room stayed extremely hot. The units at this resort are clearly outdated and seem to require running for a full day before they can cool a room properly. The second room had a better AC, but it came with its own issues. It was beyond dirty and dusty and was clearly not cleaned before we were transferred. The bathroom door didn’t close, and the water from the taps and shower smelled like sewage (and yes, I noticed other reviews mention the same issue). Since the AC in the first room still wasn’t working properly, our entire family ended up squeezing into the smaller room. Once extra beds were added, it felt like we were sleeping in a cramped backpackers’ hostel—not a supposed 4-star resort. This entire mess took up our whole evening, and by the time we were finally crammed into one room with extra beds, it was close to midnight. I’ll also note: meal options at AHG are quite limited compared to other resorts in the area. If you’re vegetarian, keep that in mind. The only real saving grace here is the unique bay location and the friendly staff (minus the general manager and reception staff). Now, based on other reviews, I’m sure the manager will respond to this with some baseless justifications and explanations. It doesn’t matter. The general manager met with me the next morning and offered generic, useless explanations, and even getting a sincere apology felt like pulling teeth. To the GM: you ruined our weekend. Instead of spending your time drafting a response I don’t care about, use that time to reflect on this feedback and make the improvements this place clearly needs. I’ll be sure not to recommend this place to anyone again. Thanks, Ricardo. TL;DR Great location and friendly staff, but the rooms are a disaster: ancient AC units that barely cool, sewage-smelling water from taps/showers, dirty replacement rooms, and a frustratingly unresponsive reception/management team. We spent most of our first night dealing with room changes and ended up crammed into one room like a hostel. Limited food options too—especially for vegetarians. Not worth it.

Noisy music untill midnight and higher light pollution. You come here to rest and you come home exhausted because poor sleep. No palms in the resort so you cannot see climbing staff and have a fresh coconut anytime. There is lawn and no flowers nor trees. Beach is not good because full of waste and boats.

The hotel is pretty but the rooms by the pool view are so hot and the air-conditioning is not enough to help. We sweated the whole time. They later changed us to the sea view rooms ...it was a bit better but theh air conditioning is weak. Kindly look into it

If you're looking for a place where relaxation and adventure come together perfectly, this is the perfect place! Our experience was fantastic. The rooms are super spacious, spotless, and offer an incredible view. The beach is just a few steps away, perfect for a sunset stroll or soaking up the sun. 🌞 The food? WOW! An amazing buffet with incredible variety, always fresh and absolutely delicious. And let’s not even get started on the cocktails! 🍹 The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. A special shout-out to the entertainment team, who made each day special without ever being over the top. And the safari? An experience not to be missed! 🐘 If you're looking to escape the daily grind and dive into a warm, welcoming, and authentic atmosphere, look no further! We can't wait to come back! 😄
