Machakos and Makueni are counties south-east of Nairobi, along the Mombasa Road. This area lists the market towns and stopovers between Nairobi and Tsavo, including Konza, Emali, Sultan Hamud, Makindu and Kibwezi, with hotels, restaurants and roadside shops. Kibwezi and Makindu are common stopping points for drivers heading to Tsavo and the coast, and the highway and railway line pass through the area.
