  Great place to unwind when in Machakos. A bit run down... pale compared to its vibrant past. The police patrolling the place can be a bit nosey though!

  I liked the zip line, the maze, the merry-go-round as well as the pathways. The quad bike had no fuel coming back hence we had walk all the way back

  The distance between Machakos town and People's Park is approximately 17 kilometers. To get there, you can take the C99 Katumani-Konza Road from A104 Mombasa-Nairobi Road. People's Park is situated at the foot of Kiima Kimwe Hill, making it a scenic destination. If you're coming from Nairobi, the park is about 80 kilometers away. Machakos People’s Park is a scenic and well-maintained public space offering free entry and plenty of parking, making it an accessible and family-friendly destination. Known for its lush greenery and peaceful environment, the park provides an ideal setting for relaxation, leisurely walks, or casual outdoor fun. Paved walkways support easy movement for walkers, joggers, and cyclists, while the charming “love corner” swings add a unique, photogenic touch. Visitors can enjoy activities such as zip lining, skating, bouncing castles, and target shooting, with a restaurant available for meals. However, the park could benefit from several improvements. During a weekend visit, food and snack options were limited, and some areas, such as grassy patches, were poorly maintained. Key facilities like the auditorium and conference center remain underused and could be repurposed for events to generate revenue. To enhance its appeal, the park could introduce educational and interactive features like indigenous or exotic tree gardens, herb corners, and water-based games in the pond. With better maintenance, marketing, and expanded amenities, Machakos People’s Park has strong potential to become a vibrant recreational and cultural hub.

  Went on a Sunday afternoon. Arrived at around 3.30pm. WHAT I LOVED: *Plenty of parking space. *Entrance is free (otherwise, entrance fee is only applicable for 10 & above groups of people). *Very green, beautiful and serene. Cool place to relax and unwind. *Love the water fountain, huge peacock structures and giant tires. *Love corner swings are super cute and comfortable. *Walkways are paved so walking and riding bikes around the park is easy. WHAT I HATED *The parking lot outside the park is very poorly maintained. It doesn't look swept, neat or inviting. There's even grass growing over the cabro stones which makes it look very dirty and untidy. (I mean, this is the first thing a visitor sees so first impressions should matter. Clean it up and maintain it properly) WHAT YOU WILL FIND: *Zip Lining *Skating *Bouncing Castles *Target Shooting *Restaurant *Snack Vendor (sweets/soda/biscuits)

  The place is good for a family get a way. There is a lot of attractions for the kids and a good relaxing ambience for adults. There are 2 restaurants,one none alcoholic and the second with a bar. The food is affordable but the portions are small. Very good views. Carry your own tissue because the toilets have no tissue or running water. Entrance is free. They have bicycles for hire, zip lining, merry go round a and remote cars for kids.
