  A wonderful experience with a group of really special people. I could talk about the hippo tour, the setting, the food and the campfire. All of these were magical. What makes this place even more special, however, is the people who have built it from nothing and do everything with love and respect for the environment. It is so heartening to meet people like this, and I have just spent a fabulous evening talking to some of the most generous, committed and interesting people I have ever met. This is an absolute must-visit place.

  Hippos, flamingos, and local community gave us such a warm welcome! We walked along the Sabaki Riverbank, to see the hippos and birds Walking along, learning about the medicinal indigenous plants and trees. With the help of local mommas we danced, sang and plated some baby mangrove trees. A great day trip from watamu, only 45 minutes away The founders , Mariam and Dominic, are lovely hosts for beautiful sundowner and stewards of this special land. You can camp overnight, or just visit for the day.... A wonderful adventure

  Hippos, happiness and Kenyan culture.. what an experience my family will remember forever! Thank you very much to our hosts Dominic and Marion (+team) for a truly a magical memory and incredibly unique adventure. OUR EXPERIENCE: Hippo Safari (saw about 15), local fishing ladies singing, planted our own mangroves, walking tour of the conservation area (aka natures pharmacist) - all supported by a camping site that is in the most immaculate condition. Just shows how much pride the whole Gedeng Camp take in their home, their purpose and the beauty of their location. This is a hidden gem and an experience you MUST do. I’m telling everyone, (even Googs obvs) Our young kids even loved it. You could even camp or stay here extremely comfortably - every little bit is thought out and of course the engagement involvement is helping the cause. We bought lots of stuff from a great bespoke gift store. They’re even planning beauty products with homegrown Aloe Vera! Thanks Camp Gedeng. Goodluck with Kangaroo Garden (lol) and see you next time :)

  Beautiful place with fantastic views and very friendly hosts. To get there from Malindi, turn right before the bridge and do not cross the river as Google is suggesting, it is not recommended to drive in between hippos!

  Camp Gedeng is the Top. Hospitality, services, security, food, everything is perfect. There is a possibility to visit the river and hippos in completely safe. You can’t visit Kenya without going to Camp Gedeng
