  Joshua is the sweetest host you can have! His place is situated very close to the ferry, just few steps from the old town. He explains everything to you once you arrive. If you book for a night ( like I did) sure you would want to extend. The rooms include fully furnished kitchen and restrooms so it’s more like renting a flat with a price of hostel! There is also rooftop with wonderful view to chill during sunset and observe sunrise. Great stay and wonderful host! Recommend to everyone!

  We loved our stay at Wildebeeste! The location was perfect, close to everything we needed, and the building itself is incredible - we especially loved the views of the town and sea from the rooftop terrace. Joshua was a great host, super welcoming and gave us some good recommendations for local restaurants and places to visit. We ended up extending our stay twice so would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a unique place to stay in Lamu on a budget - hopefully we’ll be back one day!

  We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay... Joshua and Kahindi are superb hosts, and the building itself is a work of art... we had a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and terrace and another full roof terrace with fantastic sea and sunrise views.. we ended up extending our stay here and would have liked to stay more! Location is few minutes walk from everything you might need, with a 40minute walk to Sheila beach or a just a short boat ride. Also one of the best priced accommodations in the area for the value you get. Highly recommend if you’re keen on staying in Old Lamu Town :) thanks again Joshua and Kahindi for making it such a great stay for us!

  It’s an amazing place to stay the price. I’m giving 5 stars but you should be aware there is not some of the things you might expect like air conditioning or hot shower. What you can expect is a singular experience that can’t really be described in a short review. You will get a true Swahili experience and Joshua will make sure you are very happy. Take a chance on Wildebeest and you won’t regret it.

  We can highly recommend Wildebeeste Lamu to every traveller on a budget. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and arranged pick up for us from the airport. Our room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was separate just outside our room. There is a kitchen where you can cook your own meals, but also check out Mangrove restaurant at the waterfront for their chicken from the BBQ at night. Wildebeeste has a lovely rooftop and a garden with turtles wandering around. Great quality for this price! Thanks Joshua and Kahini, hope we get to meet again! Sam and Janet
