The restaurant itself is incredible, and I would recommend coming here for the experience alone! The staff were friendly and helpful. However, the food was disappointing. Too much sauce for the food that was there. I had the ravioli and the meringue.

Amazing food and service. Everything we got was absolutely fantastic (my favorite being the bone marrow). Drinks were great too and ambiance was so nice and comfortable for a big group. Great vibes all around!

Wanting a change from the usual beach bars and waterfront restaurants, we chose Twisty Fig, which also hosts the annual Beneath the Baobabs event at the end of each year. Mohammed, the manager, was extremely responsive and helpful with pre-orders — much appreciated since we arrived very hungry. And a special mention to Julianna for her excellent recommendations and service. For starters, we had the sliced bhajia and the camembert (highly recommend). These were perfectly complemented by the Paper Plane cocktail, a G&T and a refreshing rosemary lime fizz mocktail. For mains, we ordered the spicy Swahili fish curry (my level of spice — so definitely delicious), the Milanese and the lamb shank, which was served with a large pita bread — an interesting and enjoyable twist. The true highlight, though, was the setting itself: dining under an ancient, 2,000-year-old baobab tree made the experience truly special. I’d happily return when in Kilifi for this unique and memorable dining experience.

An absolutely pleasant surprise, where what we expected for a random Saturday afternoon lunch turned into a culinary experience in the middle of one of the most random/ remote locations in kilifi. Literally the middle of the bush in a boabab tree. Was an experience we won’t forget. As vegetarians we were surprised with the selection of food and how amazing it tasted and how well prepared it was. Would def recommend for vegetarians to try the vegetarian burger, baked Camembert, beetroot bhaji as well as sliced bhajia and ricotta tortellini. What the chef has done is capture flavours beautifully. The venue is an either you will love it or it isn’t really your scene vibe. But has a charm about it that makes it a unique destination when you are travelling to kilifi. Juliana was a fantastic waitress and her service was phenomenal, and Peter who not only runs the place but is the head chef was so warm and kind and helpful.

Great food, great ambiance, great location! I second what others have said that is this place is a hidden gem and a unique dining experience under a 2000+ year old baobab tree. The only downside is that it can be a bit difficult to find. After the tuk tuk drops you off at the gate, there are no clear signs or directions, so you’ll need to make your way in through the semi-darkness. Just follow the path of lights, and you'll find your way. A bit tricky, but totally worth it once you get there!

Gorgeous and tasty food, I had the ricotta tortellini for mains ,and Camembert as a starter. We had preordered because we were a larger group and we were told there was a large party after us, so even told to come earlier. But food arrived very quickly which was a nice change. You could tell the food was made very delicately and with care. Absolutely stunning location, just a shame we were the only ones there. It could have done with some nice background music and more lighting as it was quite dark. But would definetly return😍
