  The first table we sat at was tiny ( table for two) we almost tipped it over, so we moved to another (table for four). Even the waitress acknowledged it was a tiny table. Had the chicken biryani and chips arosto (lamb) it was delicious and filling. For drinks we had bara chai and pineapple mint juice- 10/10. Atmosphere was relaxing but got noisy when all the tables were full. Best to go at off peak hours for a chilled environment. Service was quick and efficient. The waitresses had good communication about food waiting times. Next time you are around Ruaka feel free to pop in. The menu is extensive so you can get both snacks, drinks and full meals.

  Lovely place to change scenery if you work from home. They have wall sockets and café vibes. Their food portions are huge. Lovely service and affordable prices.

  Took a Madaraka day escapade. Did it pay off? Not sure. Not very sure. But the simplicity of the setup is awesome. The place is very clean and the waiters are very helpful. She warned us chips would take long, and long did it wee!!. Someone almost went to the kitchen to help in cooking. The biryani missed the point. The Rojo missed the swahili taste. The tea was also out though served in the usual transparent (glass) mug done in swahili. The shawarma had alot of Mayo. I like one without alot of it. The shurubati.... this I don't know how to comment... anytime fresh juices are served from plastic vibuyus I have some reservations on the word fresh.

  I stopped by Bara Swahili Dishes for lunch on a Sunday afternoon.The ambience is pretty appealing.The waitress was friendly and the food was served almost as soon as we ordered. It's certainly a great stop for a quick lunch or cup of tea for someone passing by Ruaka as it is right by the road and has adequate parking space.

  Bara Swahili is your place to be for swahili dishes, and more. The place is just amazing. The finishing is class, tue food is amazing, the music played is soothing and the staff are super nice, courteous and friendly. They have nice Biryani, the best Milkshake, for for icecream lovers, they are your people. They can also have a set up for a small party, like they did for us a small birthday party for a friend. They went extra just to make her day. Their cake was one of the best I've had in a long time. Highly recommended.
