    My worst meal in Kisumu so far and the first time I have been cheated on the bill. The glazed pork I ordered was 20% meat, 60% pork fat and 20% bones, as you can see on the picture. Plus, I was charged 350 bobs more for the potato wedges : altogether 1500 shillings for a bad, greasy dish and a bottle of water. Really to be avoided at all costs...

    When I stepped out of my hotel, I asked the concierge for a good spot to grab a beer and was directed to Alleyways. After five weeks in Kenya without many nights out, this place was a great surprise — and just a short walk from my hotel. Good drinks, good music, and a lively, friendly crowd made for a perfect evening. One of the waitresses was especially helpful when I asked for a Jameson. I’ll definitely be back tonight.

    Its a good place to enjoy, good drinks and interact with new faces. Waitress take advantage of the drunkards and ask them to pay twice the bill when they see they are not sobber.

    A hidden gem of a hangout in downtown Kisumu. Its behind the Kenya Power Office building in an alleyway. It's sorta a mix of restaurant and a club without being exclusively either. If you are looking for that kind of experience then this is your place. The interior design is creative, colorul and inviting. I like the cushioned high chairs draped in colorful local fabric. It has a very interesting crowd. Locals, foreigners, rastas..It's a great place to be. The waiters are very friendly and try to get to you quickly. However, your food will take ages especially when it gets busy. The food isn't great honestly. My chips was quite crunchy. However, I don't think this is a place you go to for the food. I think more the atmosphere. Getting the bill can also take a while. This is a place that's not talked about enough.
