  I stayed with four friends for three night at the commodious and welcoming Mara Crossing Camp in September 2025. Of our several lodges in Kenya and Tanzania, this one stands out in scenic location (looking out on waterfalls and hippo pools on the Mara River), for service (Kelvin was a wonderfully attentive waiter with a phenomenal memory, and Isaac was an outstanding and creative bartender), for food (imaginative, fresh, and beautifully served meals with mouthwatering variety, the best of our several lodges) and accommodations (a clean, spacious and comfortable tent -- with a water bottle tucked into our sheets at night-- come on! They thought of everything!). The very friendly and accommodating staff were waiting whenever we needed to venture out in the dark, to accompany us safely to the lodge lest one of the many hippos just over the riverbank decided to wander out. Our wildlife drive guide, Joshua Njugi, was a tru pro with every aspect of his job. He taught us so much about the park and its wildlife. He was an expert spotter and was infinitely patient with us trying to see and photograph animals, especially birds! He is an extremely skilled driver and was truly dedicated to getting us to the current happenings in the park, and maneuvering his Land Cruiser so that we had the best possible vantage points. He knows the beautiful Maasi Mara like I know my own yard-- miles upon miles of back roads, short cuts, hot spots. If you can hire Joshua, do! You'll thank me. All and all, a top-shelf camp!

  Beautifully set on the Mara River (thank you Carol for the smooth organization), this camp was a highlight of our safari. From our tent we watched hippos, crocs, and birds with the soothing sounds of the waterfall in the background. Food was the best of our 15-day trip—plentiful, varied, and delicious (thanks Kelvin). Isaac’s cocktails and fresh-fruit mocktails were excellent, though wine choices did run out. Tents were spacious, private, and well equipped with electricity, double sinks, hot showers, and comfy beds—loved the hot water bottles at night. Game drives with Joshua Njugi were unforgettable: he found us a leopard leaping into a tree right in front of our vehicle, and lionesses with cubs. He was patient, kind and a real gentleman. Service was warm overall, but note: a sentimental item left behind was not recovered, which raises concerns about staff trustworthiness. A wonderful camp with top guiding, food, and setting—just keep a close eye on your belongings.

  Amazing experience, staff were outstanding and made us feel welcome from the moment we got out of the car. The setting on the river with the hippo’s and crocodiles are nothing but spectacular. Highly recommend staying there.

  A gem in the Maasai Mara! Everything about this camp was extraordinary; the vibe, ambiance, service, food, view and tents. Even though I gave this place a 5 star rating, be prepared for "the African Massage" jeep ride to get there!

  Located on the banks of Mara river this place is perfect for nature lovers. The gurgling sound of the river, the chirping of the birds, the grunting of the hippos and the amazing views all around is a new experience. The tents are very luxurious, the staff is very helpful and the four course sit down meals are awesome.
