  Hemingways Mara River Camp was truly the best experience we have ever had, and without a doubt the best thing we could have chosen for our honeymoon. Everything was beyond perfect from the first moment until the last. Our tent was beautiful, peaceful, and luxurious at the same time. The camp felt authentic but still on the highest level of comfort. The food was outstanding every single day. Breakfast was amazing, from the English breakfast to the pancakes and honestly the best hash browns we ever had. The Kenyan French press coffee they brought us was one of the best coffees we’ve tasted, and every morning they also delivered fresh cookies to our tent, which was such a small detail but made us so happy. Lunch was always special and surprising, and every dinner felt like a chef meal. What made this place even more unique was the service. It was personal, warm, and truly thoughtful. They remembered the little things like which cocktails we love and exactly how we like our coffee. They also created the most romantic moments for us, including happy hours next to the fire at the camp. And one of the most unforgettable surprises was a full happy hour they arranged for us during the safari itself. They literally set up a fire, drinks, and snacks in the middle of the bushes and trees, surrounded by nature. It felt unreal, like something out of a movie. Another highlight was a surprise bush breakfast that they cooked for us in the middle of nature, and it was perfect in every way. A huge thank you to Hanna, Prince, Alifa, Calvince, Ruth, and the entire security and kitchen team. You made us feel at home and spoiled in the best way. And the safari experience was absolutely unbelievable. Dennis, our guide, gave 100% in every single drive. He is a true professional. He was incredibly knowledgeable about every animal, drove safely but also adventurous enough to reach the best spots, and always gave us his full attention. Thanks to him we saw almost every animal we could dream of. Giraffes, elephants, so many lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffalos, hippos, and even two rhinos. He also offered us a walking safari and a night safari, and every day we came back to camp one to two hours late, only because we kept seeing one more amazing animal and he wanted us to experience everything. This was the best experience we have ever had in every way. The service, the safari, the food, the atmosphere, and the people were all exceptional. We will never forget it and we cannot recommend it enough.

  Splendid luxury camp with superbly guided safari drives in the Mara. It is on the banks of a river and you see animals on the hillside. You lack nothing and the staff are always so ready to help. We had a wonderful stay. I have no hesitation in recommending Richards Camp. Thank you for looking after us so well.

  We had the most amazing time at Richard’s Camp. Our guides - William and Charles - were fantastic - we couldn’t have asked for better wildlife viewings and it far exceeded our expectations. The service and food are incredible and we really appreciated the intimate, family feel with only eight tents. We would come back in a heartbeat and only wish we had more time there.

  One of the most amazing safari experiences you can have. I cannot give enough compliments. The staff in the camp are amazing and caters to your every need. Junior and Kaputi were amazing guides, with a deep knowledge of the land, animals, the local people and the history of the area. Could not have asked for a better experience. The rooms in the camp were also fantastic.

  I've done several safaris throughout Kenya over the course of nearly 10 years, and our recent stay at Richard's in the Masai Mara was by far the most incredible safari experience I've ever had. The accommodations are blended into the broader Mara environment in a way that is exciting, yet safe and respectful. The individual tents themselves are cozy and comfortable with a nice bed, great bathroom experience (reliable toilet and amazing warm-water open-air shower), and attentive staff continuously elevating the daily experience with fresh water and personalized wake-up calls. The staff are all friendly and proactive, with awesome positive energy. We really appreciated that all the meals and snacks were not only delicious, but thoughtfully planned and paced throughout the day. Afternoon tea before safari and pre-dinner cocktails with other camp guests were a nice touch (and a good way to meet new people if you enjoy socializing). Johnson was our safari guide and gave us an unbelievable experience. We not only saw so many different animals, but also got a nuanced perspective of the broader Mara ecosystem. Management thinks through every. single. detail -- from personalized cocktail requests to warm blankets packed in the expertly maintained and customized Land Cruisers. Lastly, morning breakfast and evening sundowners in the bush were absolutely unforgettable.
