  Awesome experience! Great location and saw tons of wildlife. Staff, service and food was excellent. The water blind is great for photography, bring your best camera! Highly recommend.

  The perfect place to finish the vacation of a lifetime! Shompole Wilderness was our fourth and final destination in Kenya. The change of pace from group meals and regullarly scheduled game drives was wonderful. Every detail was personalized for us. The food was fantastic and the service was friendly and professional. Our "tent" was furnished better then many high end hotels. The access to wildlife was unique and unforgettable. We spent more time in the game hide and bird hides than on drives because it was a much more natural way to be up close. The photos from these vantage points are definitely my favorites from our entire trip. We plan to return to Kenya to visit more locations but we will definitely make Shompole Wilderness our final stop anytime we are in Eastern Africa.

  We visited Kenya on a 2 week safari. Shompole Wilderness was our final stop and was filled with very special memories. Johann and Sam treated us like family. They attended to our every need and made sure we had an exceptional experience. Aside from our stay at the lodge, we had the opportunity to visit their nearby hide which allowed for amazing animal viewing, visited a local market, floated the river, went on a baboon walk, and they even planned a birthday celebration for me. The food was exceptional (I am still thinking about the Swahili chicken!) The rooms were very comfortable and we enjoyed watching the wildlife right outside of our "tree house." This family is passionate about what they do and are truly some of the most kind people you will ever meet. If I am fortunate enough to visit Kenya again, I won't miss a return trip to Shampole.

  Great adventures & food, super hosts (Johann, Sam) committed to local conservation and strong community relationships. What to know before you go.... It's hot! Bring light clothes. Lots of hiking opportunities in the bush with extremely knowledgeable maasai guides so bring good shoes and a hat (which of course I forgot). Plenty of game of all types. And, the birds! I am not a "🐦 person" but they were the big surprise. They came down the river bed in massive flocks. The variety and sheer volume were amazing.
