  Extremely disappointing experience with Malaika Lotus Massage & SPA house calls. We booked services for our guests with a confirmed price over the phone. However, after the massage, they aggressively demanded a final payment that was an astonishing 360% higher than quoted, for services we were neither informed about nor approved at that rate. No menu or clear pricing was provided upfront. When we called management to clarify this massive discrepancy, we were met with rude, dismissive responses and our guests were distressingly threatened with police. This felt like a deliberate attempt to overcharge and intimidate. Avoid this business if you expect fair pricing, transparency, and professional conduct. We feel utterly cheated.

  Every new business needs a few friendly reviews to get going, and unfortunately, I trusted this one based on that. I regret it deeply. What was supposed to be a relaxing in-house massage for our Airbnb guests turned into an ugly, stressful, and frankly shady experience. We were quoted Ksh 2,500 for two massages, including transport, which is a standard, fair rate in Diani. We were asked if we wanted herb-infused oil, and we casually agreed, not imagining this would later be used as justification for a bill nearly five times the agreed price. Once the massage was done, the therapists suddenly demanded Ksh 11,500. When we called Malaika, the business owner, she arrogantly blamed us for not having her price list (which had never been provided beforehand), then sent it via text after the treatment and demanded full payment. While we tried to seek clarification, the therapists at the Airbnb began threatening our guests with police involvement unless we paid immediately. Completely unacceptable. We paid under pressure just to get the situation over with, but we’re still waiting for a proper ETR receipt for KRA compliance, which is something any legitimate business should provide without issue. Let’s be clear: most freelance therapists in Diani charge Ksh 1,500 per massage and bring their own table. For the Ksh 5,500 per person we were ultimately charged, we could have taken our guests to the spa at Swahili Beach Hotel and had a world-class experience instead of this disaster. To top it all off, the guests themselves said the “massage” was basically being drenched in oil, not therapeutic, not relaxing, just oily. A deeply disappointing experience with aggressive, arrogant customer service and an approach to business that borders on extortion. You’ve been warned.
