I was in the area and heard CJ's was the place to go. I ordered the Tai Peanut Chicken Curry with a Peach Drink. The Tai was very thick and the chicken was dry and bland. The rice was good. I had to mix my salad with the peanut butter sauce to lighten it up and change the flavor abit. The "bite size" plaintains were much smaller than expected. Not to mention they way added way to much cinnamon on them as if it were a dessert. Not sure where they got that idea from, but in my opinion, it was wack. As for the peach drink, i asked the waitress prior to ordering it if it was sweet and she said no. Well... if diabetes were in a glass, this drink would be it!! I told the waitress the issue and to bring me a glass of water so I could dilute it. She would walk off and then return asking if she could take thr drink instead to remake it. She did that 5 times until I gave up and told them to just take it and not bring anything back. Then, they finally brought me some water. I doubt I will ever return. If i do, it will not be because of the food. I was very disappointed, considering the cost

Stepping into CJ's is like entering an oasis of high-class dining right in the middle of Kilimani's beautifully organized chaos. Situated right by a busy intersection, the contrast the moment you walk through the doors is incredible. You are greeted instantly by a welcoming hostess with menus, and the upscale, beautiful aesthetics of the restaurant hit you right away. I opted to sit on the second floor, which offers a stunning view out the window—honestly, it felt like enjoying a perfect snapshot of Africa framed right in front of you. The drink and appetizer game here is top-tier. I ordered the Cucumber Kiwi Iced Tea and absolutely fell in love; it is incredibly refreshing. For an appetizer, the Beef Samosas absolutely called my name, and they are easily some of the best I’ve ever had. Being West Indian, the seasoning felt beautifully familiar and akin to what I'm used to back home—essentially a perfectly executed African empanada. Fun fact: CJ's doesn't serve alcohol at all. For a restaurant this massive to be so wildly successful without a bar speaks volumes about the quality of the food. People come here purely for the flavors, and it keeps your final bill very reasonable! For my main, I wanted to experience a staple of Kenyan cuisine, so I ordered the Garlic Beef Ugali Delight. My helpful server explained that ugali is made from corn flour, and tasting it, it reminded me of a very soft, dense biscuit with the appearance of mashed potatoes. While it might not be my absolute favorite thing yet, I’m so glad I tried it! The star of the show, however, was the beef and spinach. The beef was seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection, served alongside a delicious tomato-herb mixture and a side of plantains (which were a tiny bit firm, but still very tasty). The service here is impeccable. My server was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful with the menu. She originally suggested the fish, and since I know fish is huge out here, I’m definitely going to try the salmon or red snapper on my next visit. Five stars all the way for the stellar food, wonderful atmosphere, and excellent service. I completely understand the hype now!
