Laikipia Wilderness is a family-owned safari operation in Ol Doinyo Lemboro, a 21,000-acre conservancy in Central Laikipia. It runs five camps in the conservancy: Main Camp, River Camp, Palm Camp, Leopard Springs and Elephant Point. Reservations for all camps go through one central contact.

Main Camp
A family-owned camp on a hillside above the Ewaso Narok River with six tented rooms: four family tents and two double tents. Family tents interconnect so parents can stay close to young children. A swinging bench on a rock above camp looks out over the Laikipia landscape and, on clear days, Mount Kenya.

River Camp
Four thatched cottages on the banks of the Ewaso Narok with a central mess and dining area and an outdoor fire pit. Two are family cottages and two are flexible double, twin or triple rooms, all with en suite open-air bathrooms. The camp shares its staff, guides and activities with Main Camp.

Palm Camp
Six en suite tented rooms raised on wooden stilts on the banks of the Ewaso Narok River, with a central mess, bar and an expansive lawn with river views. The camp officially opened in October 2023 and runs on solar electricity. It is booked on an exclusive-use basis.

Leopard Springs
A tented camp on the banks of the Ewaso with four furnished tented rooms, set in the Mutara landscape. It takes one large group or, for couples and singles, a maximum of two groups at a time. Meals are home-style and served buffet style around a central table; there is a mess tent and an outdoor fireplace.

Elephant Point
An exclusive-use camp overlooking the riverfront with six en suite tented rooms that sleep up to 16 guests, two of them family tents. The large mess area is built into the rock side, overlooking a permanent river that elephants and other wildlife visit. It suits families and groups who want privacy.

Absolutely amazing, we had a lovely time staying here. The accommodation was lovely & comfortable, the safari was amazing, the guides really couldnt do enough for us. We saw the black leopard, elephants, zebras, giraffes, the leopard family & many more.. I love the dikdiks! We had lovely scenic lunches & we even had a guided walk which was really nice.

We spent two nights at the recently opened Leopard Springs camp in November 2025. The camp lies in a secluded valley above a stream where animals come to drink and consists of only four tents with a mess tent. As a result it is a very quiet peaceful place. Food was excellent with all our needs met. The wildlife is the star of the show. We had leopards and elephants in the unfenced camp at night (only heard them with tracks in the morning) while a klipspringer was resident on the rocks on the other side of the valley. Our guides however took things to another level when out on morning and evening game drives and they seemed to have a sixth sense about leopards of which we saw many including a black leopard on the final evening. We also saw masses of elephants, giraffes, hippos and best of all a striped hyena which are rarely seen. Another highlight was a guided walking safari which we did one morning, walking for a couple of hours along the escarpment at dawn. Being on foot really brings home the solitude of this landscape, while the sights and smells of the bush overwhelm the senses compared with being contained in a vehicle. There is of course a frisson of excitement when you become aware of an elephant herd moving towards you and diversionary action is needed. A fantastic place and we hope to return one day.

We had a fantastic 3 day stay at laikipia wilderness camp. We had some amazing game drives thanks to our extremely savvy and friendly team of Steven and Karaoke. We saw Giza the black leopard, along with lots of other amazing animals, spotty leopards, wild dogs, silver backed jackals, kudu, and eland. We also had magical experiences with fishing in the river, walking safari and best of all swimming in the waterfall. It felt truly special and our daughter loved it too.
