  We had a very nice evening at Sunset Lab. The pizzas were very tasty ! The atmosphere is also great with a nice view on the bay and foot in sand. The only thing I regret is that they don’t have a drink menu with prices. Only alcoholic beverages are written on a white without prices. If you want something else (juices), you need to ask directly.

  Appalling service. Arrived for dinner yesterday and encountered the rudest waiter who wouldn't sit me where I had requested despite having a reservation and explicitly asking to be sat by the beach-side. I asked who was in charge of reservations for the evening and a waiter called Willy came to help, apologised for the colleague's behaviour and set a table for me, he/they are the only reason I chose to stay as they did their best to resolve it. The pizza was good, I'll give them that. Nonetheless, when I went to the wc, in less than 5 min, I came to find my table and all my drinks had been cleared, I had just asked for a fresh drink, large water half drank, sunglasses there, and had not settled the bill, so none of the waitstaff should have presumed that I had left. And if in doubt they should have confirmed with Willy(my winter for the evening) or wait to ask me. After this, I couldn't wait to leave. It was very obvious during the service that they did not want POCs sat at the "front"(beach-side) and most would be sent to the back or to a secluded place close to the kitchen. Disgraceful, wouldn't go back.

  The Saporita is my go-to when I’m in Watamu. It’s one of the handful of vegetarian options on the menu. The ingredients are of quality and can stand on their own being simple and flavorful. The tomato is juicy and tangy-sweet, the mozzarella balls are fun and delicious, the roquet is fresh and peppery, and the crust is thin and perfectly yeasty. The olive oil matches perfectly too. Feels like I’m in Italy. The owner is Italian and you can tell. The setting is gorgeous. Most of the seating in restaurant is in the sand for a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is mostly outdoors overlooking the bay. The place gets busy so a reservation might be needed at peak times, especially for dinner on long/holiday weekends.

  We had the best time at sunset lab! Didn’t only eat here three times, because the pizza ist a MUST (but also the cheesecake a real dream), the whole service team super nice and funny & the sunset view beautiful! But also slept here 4 nights and loved everything about it. The included breakfast is really good and the whole area is cozy and affordable. We would always come back! Asante to Matteo #1 & #2, Morris and the whole Team! ❤️ you do great.
