Detailed Description

Eight hours covering Nairobi National Park, the Sheldrick Elephant Nursery, and the Giraffe Centre is a genuinely full day, and Kenya Safaris has been running this circuit long enough to know where the time goes and how to protect it. At KES 5,805 for transport and guiding, 130 reviewers suggest the formula reliably delivers what's promised. You leave your hotel in the early morning and arrive at the national park for the optimal wildlife-viewing window. Your guide takes you through the open savannah circuits, coordinating with park rangers and other drivers via radio to locate recent sightings. The park's remarkable statistic is its predator density relative to its size — lions, leopards, and cheetahs all live permanently within seven kilometres of the Nairobi CBD, which is not something you can say about any other major world capital. The black rhino population is particularly significant; the rhino sanctuary here has grown its numbers against a global decline that makes the park's success all the more notable. The Sheldrick Nursery visit requires careful timing that your guide manages. Public viewing at the orphanage runs from 11am to noon only, and a maximum of 200 visitors are admitted per day — the schedule built around this constraint is tighter than it might appear. The nursery cares for orphaned elephants rescued from conflict zones, poaching incidents, and drought-related family separations across Kenya. During the feeding hour you'll watch calves pursue their keepers with a determination that makes adults laugh and children go completely quiet. Entry is USD 20 per adult and USD 5 per child, paid at the gate. Afternoon brings the Giraffe Centre, where Rothschild giraffe — among the most threatened giraffe subspecies on Earth — stretch toward a raised feeding platform to take pellets from outstretched hands. The encounter is closer than most people anticipate; giraffe have a physical presence at proximity that photographs don't convey. Entry is USD 15 per adult at the gate. The Karen Blixen Museum is accessible in the same neighbourhood if your group finishes the Giraffe Centre with time to spare — it adds USD 12 per adult and around 45 minutes. All admission fees are additional to the tour price and paid on the day in USD. Bring a wide-brimmed hat, water, closed shoes for the park, and sunscreen. Alcoholic drinks are available to purchase at various points. This tour suits all ages and makes particular sense for first-time Kenya visitors who want maximum wildlife variety from a single Nairobi day without committing to an overnight safari stay.
