  Amazing experience starting with dugout canoe through mangroves with fire grilled fresh seafood on the beach at Catapilla Island. Along the trip we saw lots of wildlife and learned how important the mangroves are as a carbon store and diverse coastal ecosystem. We then planted our own mangrove seeds. Professionally hosted by Leno and Amos who were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended an unforgettable experience for the whole family!

  I had an amazing experience on the canoe tour in Mida Creek with Leno as my guide. From the start, his deep knowledge and passion for his hometown were evident, making the journey both educational and engaging. As we glided through the serene waters, I spotted different types of crabs among the mangroves, adding to the beauty of the experience. The tour was incredibly peaceful, allowing me to fully take in the natural surroundings. The highlight was reaching Catapilla Island just in time for a breathtaking sunset, creating a picture-perfect moment. To top it off, I enjoyed a delicious dinner while watching a fantastic local dance show—an authentic and vibrant way to end the evening. If you’re in Watamu, I highly recommend this tour. It’s a perfect blend of nature, culture, and relaxation, made even better by Leno’s enthusiasm and expertise!

  Our trip to Catapilla Island was, without a doubt, the highlight of our stay in Watamu. Everything about this experience was just magical. We started by crossing the mangroves, a stunning and peaceful journey through nature. The canoe tour was an incredible way to explore this unique ecosystem, and we spotted so many different birds along the way. But what really made this experience special was Lenno, our amazing guide. His knowledge, passion, and warm personality made us feel completely immersed in the beauty of the place. One of the most unforgettable moments was planting mangroves—a simple but meaningful way to give back to the environment. It felt great to actively contribute to preserving this stunning area. To top it all off, we ended the day with a seafood feast by the fire, featuring lobster, fish, octopus, and the most incredible shrimp. As we ate, we watched a breathtaking sunset that made the whole experience feel surreal. And the best part? The price was extremely reasonable for such an unforgettable day. If you’re in Watamu, don’t even hesitate—Catapilla Island is an absolute must!

  Our experience exploring the mangroves was nothing short of magical—an authentic and exclusive adventure that felt like a dream. We began with a mesmerizing walk through the mangroves, immersing ourselves in the raw beauty of nature before reaching a secluded island. From there, we embarked on a serene journey through the winding waterways aboard a beautifully crafted Venice-style boat, surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of exotic birds. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we arrived on a deserted beach where an incredible seafood feast awaited us—succulent lobsters, fresh snapper, shrimp, squid, and perfectly cooked rice with a rich, flavorful sauce. Fresh tropical fruits and a chilled coconut made the meal even more special. The night sky, free from light pollution, was a breathtaking spectacle of stars. Our guide, Neno, made the experience truly unforgettable, sharing fascinating stories and insights with the warmth and kindness that define the Kenyan spirit. And all of this at an incredibly reasonable price! An absolute must-do—one of the most unique and memorable experiences we’ve ever had.

  Wonderful location to enjoy a platter of grilled seafood in the mangrove. I recommend it! If you want to get there by your own, contact Amos and he will give you all the details and arrange a nice trip in canoe to the island 😉 Thank you Amos and your community that take care of this beautiful place.
